Since of the inside of the trunk is hard to get to and sand tends to get between the board and trunk I think it makes sense to at least give it 3 coats of epoxy. I coat the inside surfaces, fillet the corners, 'glass the sides & inside of the headledges with 6 oz. cloth for abrasion resistance then flow a coat of epoxy over that. I give it 2 coats of paint too but mostly for looks since UV isn't much of a problem inside the trunk. Jeff

I'm posting this for Peter, who had a problem posting. JeffBefore assembling the centerboard trunk, I coated the inside of with epoxy thickened with graphite powder (available at the marine store, in the West System section). After sanding with REALLY fine grit paper, the interior came out very slick. The only problem came when I assembled the trunk: some of the epoxy used for assembly dripped to the inside. I used a rag soaked white vinegar to wipe up the drips, but I think I lost some of my slick interior. I'll know once she's on the water. ******** Thank you Peter Christian
