Hello to all. We're in the process of researching both the GP and SP. Our intentions are to do some coastal cruising and exploring the ICW along the eastern seabaord and Florida coast in our retirement the end of this year(2009). We have looked at several production boats as well; Montgomery 15 and 17, ComPac Sun Cat and 19, and even the SeaPearl 21. When we saw the Great Pelican on this website, we decided to research the possibility of having one built. To keep cost down, we are working with Jeff to see about having him build us a Super Pelican to a level of completion we can manage. With that said, we understand that there is a certain amount of flexibility when building a Pelican. For example, the cabin layout can be customized to a certain point, as can the cabin(flush deck, cuddy and trunk cabins). However, we also beleive trim and balance are extremely important in any small sail boat. For this reason, we are hesitant to alter the basic design without approval from Jeff. After all, these boats are suppose to be simple and functional. All we want is safety and reasonable comfort for two to sleep aboard. We welcome any comments/suggestions particulaarly on the GP and SP model Pelicans. For others researching these boats, you can find some good photos on the british site, flickr.com where you can view Lous Great Pelican and Grants Great Pelican. Lous photos show some good views of the interior layout of the cabin and cockpit. You can email me direct mayrel@hughes.net sail on...Mayrel
