a nice warm shop to build in

One of the reasons for my paranoia of building is "Where am I going to build". I need a sheltered area. I need a place to keep the boat out of the sun and out of the cold while I am building. I need a place that will hold a bit of heat. I'm certain I could not find an acceptable building for less than $600-$1,000 in my area, and I live in state that has a history for being inexpensive to live in, West Virginia. Take a look at Growers Supply catalog. www.growerssupply.com I can get a nice little 12 x 8 x 20 w x h l garage for $700. Building can be used at a later date to store the boat or used as a small greenhouse. Pretty neat. One other thing to address. The comment was made yesterday that I should get a glass boat, a real boat. I'm a different kind of guy. I like canvas backpacks, home cooking, Fairlanes and Falcons, and a small house (the smaller, the better-less cleaning to do) I am not saying that a fiberglass boat is not in my future, especially with the cost of a good used one. I'm just saying I like the way wood looks. It's pretty. Same with canvas and all the other stuff. I don't have to have the biggest or the best or what everyone else has. I have to have what appeals to me. I'm also looking at buying a nice little 200 cc scooter, so now you know I'm a flake. Especially when I can get a good used 800 cc motorcycle for the same price. But again, that's not what I want.

Hey Rodney,
Welcome to the group! A shop to build in is always a concern for the first time builder but your solution is a good one, it does take a lot to have good shop space.
Know what you mean, I'm still driving a 25 yr old toyota van and love it, and preferred our old 500 sq. ft. house.
